The IOC Executive Board confirmed at its recent meeting in Acapulco that the sports programme of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, which will be presented to the IOC Session for approval, would be the same as the one in Sochi in 2014. The Executive Board decided not to propose any additional sports, but to maintain the seven current core sports.
The International Orienteering Federation applied for ski orienteering to be included in the programme of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The IOC Executive Board's decision means that ski orienteering will not be part of the Games in 2018. The next chance to be included in the Olympic Winter Games is 2022.
